Ghar Ek Sapnaa is a Hindi television serial that aired on Sahara One channel worldwide. It is based on the story of a young woman, Kakul, whose dreams are shattered when she learns that her husband does not love her and she is not accepted by her in-laws.

Ghar Ek Sapnaa is an Indian TV series which was broadcasted on Sahara One. The format of the series was drama. It was premiered on 15th January 2007. The series was also telecasted in some other countries. In Romania, it was telecasted daily from April 2009 to March 2010 on the channel National TV, and it was called In cautarea fericirii. The series is currently airing daily in Mauritius on the channel MBC Digital 4.
The storyline of the serial shows the life of a young woman Kakul. Kakul’s father, Om Shankar is a politician. Once Kakul went to Mumbai to attend the wedding of her friend. There she meets Samman. Samman is the son of a wealthy Mumbai based businessman, Amarnath Chowdhary. Samman flirts with Kakul in the wedding. Kakul is a simple girl and she did not realize that Samman is just doing futile flirtation to kill the time nicely and in the company of a beautiful young woman. Kakul gets attracted to Samman’s charm and falls for him.
Samman has a very short tempered elder brother, named Surjeet. Surjeet follows and supports Kakul’s father Om Shankar in politics. When Surjeet finds out the wedding incident, he becomes very angry. Surjeet gets Samman at gunpoint and forced him to marry Kakul. From this point, Kakul’s life becomes miserable. Samman is in love with his regular girlfriend, Vanshika Saxena. Kakul’s mother in law, Uttara disapproves the marriage and does not accept Kakul as her daughter in law.
The heart of the story was how Kakul faces all the obstacles and overcomes them, how she wins Samman’s heart and realizes her dream of a happy and loving family.
The serial was directed by Ajai Sinha and the story was written by Gajra Kottary. Kakul was initially played by Sayantani Ghosh and later by Anisha Kapur. Samman was initially played by Ujjwal Rana and later by Ankur Nayyar.
